All across the United States, Americans are anticipating the total solar eclipse of the sun that will occur starting around 1:00PM EDT. This spectacular event will not be visible from the United States again for twenty years (in 2044). States in the path of the eclipse will experience “totality,” that is the complete blocking of the sun by the moon that creates darkness during the daylight hours for about five minutes. The rest of the country can experience a partial view. The entire event takes about two hours to complete the viewing of the sun passing from the obstruction of the moon from beginning to end. NASA is making it possible for everyone to see this event from anywhere in the world.
