Montgomery Shooting No Suspect Aprihended

A mass shooting in downtown Montgomery, Alabama, late Saturday night left two people dead and twelve injured, including several teenagers. The victims were identified as Jeremiah Morris, 17, and Shalanda Williams, 43, both residents of Montgomery.

Police say gunfire erupted around 11:30 p.m. near Bibb Street and Commerce Street, an area often crowded on weekends. Witnesses described chaos as multiple shooters fired into the crowd, causing panic. Montgomery Police Chief Jim Graboys stated that investigators believe the violence began when a single individual was targeted, but several people in the crowd were also armed and returned fire.

Authorities recovered multiple firearms with high-capacity magazines at the scene. Five victims remain in critical condition, while seven others suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Officials confirmed that half of the victims are under age 20, the youngest being 16 years old.

Despite a visible police presence—officers were within 50 feet of the shooting—gunfire broke out suddenly. Mayor Steven Reed emphasized that Montgomery police, state law enforcement, and federal agencies including the FBI and ATF are working jointly on the investigation.

A $50,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Authorities are urging anyone with photos, videos, or tips to contact Montgomery Police (334-625-2831) or CrimeStoppers (334-215-STOP).

Chief Graboys described the investigation as “laser-focused,” noting that “even the smallest detail could be critical.”
